NPFL'23: Bayelsa United hand Lobi Stars first heavy defeat of the season

Nigeria National League champions, Bayelsa United continued their impressive form in the Nigeria Premier Football League after their emphatic win over Lobi Stars on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Prosperity Boys defeated league group B leaders by three goals to nil to hand their worst defeat of the season at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Two goals in the first half and a last minute own goal condemned Lobi Stars to their fourth defeat of the season.

Stephen Wisdom opened score as early as the 13th minute to set the ball rolling for more goals.

Alex Jerry doubled the lead in the 24th minute as the Makurdi based team continues to look a shadow of themselves.

Before the end of the first 45 minutes which ended 2-0 in favour of the Host, Jerry was substituted for Eric Dufegha after getting injured in the course or scoring.

In the second half, the shoe get size side sought to reduce deficit, but it the Hosts that had the match in control.

With defeat looking inevitable for Lobi Stars, Emmanuel Daniel compounded issues for the visitors as he scored an own goal for the game to end 3-0.
