NPFL UPDATE: Rivers Utd, Plateau remain unbeaten

The duo of Rivers United and Plateau United continued their fine run this term in the four-week old NPFL as they survived difficult away ties yesterday.

While Rivers United held FC IfeanyiUbah to a goalless draw in Nnewi, Kennedy Boboye tutored Plateau United also survived in Gombe as they held Gombe United to a barren draw at the Pantami Stadium.

Plateau courtesy of the vital away point secured in Gombe remained on top of the league log with 10 points. Rivers United are coming a close second with eight points.

Defending champions, Rangers International who started the season on a faulty note losing at home to Abia Warriors are beginning to get things right. The Flying Antelopes in yesterday’s game grabbed another draw away against embattled Akwa United at the Uyo Nest of Champions. Rangers had in week two forced Nasarawa United to a 1-1 in Lafia.

Akwa United who are yet to win a match are now at the bottom of the league log. In Ibadan, 3SC relied on a 93rd minute penalty to force visiting MFM to a 1-1 draw. Abayomi Adebayo converted 3SC’s penalty in the tension soaked match.
