FC Ifeanyi Ubah yesterday improved their standing on the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) table when they defeated visiting ABS FC of Ilorin 2-0 at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah International stadium also known as the Fortress in the matchday 23 encounter.

The Anambra Warriors from the beginning of the match did not leave anyone in doubt about their readiness to make a mince meat of their visitors.

In the two minutes of play, Seka Pascal of FC Ifeanyi Ubah ran rings round the defence line of ABS but his shot eventually missed target by the whiskers.

The Anambra Warriors continued to mount pressure on their opponents resulting to series of corner kicks from the frantic clearance by the defenders of ABS.

Seka Pascal and Joseph Mamoo combined beautifully in front of goal but the goalkeeper of ABS, Nurudeen Mudashiru stood his ground and prevented the homers from getting an early opener.

The resistance of the visitors was broken in the 26th minute when Joseph Mammo tucked into the net a well taken corner kick by Bright Onyedikachi for the first goal.

The Anambra Warriors eventually restricted the visitors to their own half of the pitch but then could not increase the tally.

On resumption of play at half time, again FC Ifeanyi Ubah attackers terrorized the defence of ABS which paid off in the 67th minutes as Elu Wilson beat the offside trap of the ABS and made a through pass to Seka Pascal who found the back of the net for the homers second goal.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah goal highest poacher this season, Godwin Obaje, had the opportunity to increase the tally in the 76th minutes of play but his header narrowly missed target.
