NPFL: Rivers United secure 3 consecutive wins after win over Katsina United

Rivers United continue to their gradual surge in the table of the Nigeria Premier Football League after a 2-0 win over Katsina United in their matchday 28 encounter on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Pride of Rivers earned the win courtesy of brace assist from Andy Okpe saw Deputy Echeta and Kazie Enyinnaya score two goals for the former league champions at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

Rivers who had defeated Rangers International and Plateau United prior the game dominated proceedings in the half and opened score as Echeta headed in the ball beyond Katsina United goalkeeper Ibrahim Pius off Okpe’s headed assist a minute before half time.

Okpe who had been a torn in the flesh of Katsina United all through the game provided the assist for the second time as Enyinnaya buried the ball in the net on 80 minute.

The win takes Rivers United up to 12th place on the standings ahead of their short trip for the next matchweek to Yenagoa where they face Bayelsa United in a South-south derby on Monday.

Katsina United will also travel to Aba to play against champions Enyimba this Sunday in a Matchday 32 fixture.
