NPFL Review: River United Mount Pressure On Leaders Rangers

Rivers United are now breathing down the necks of Nigeria league leaders Enugu Rangers after they won their third straight game Wednesday by stopping Wikki Tourists 1-0 in Port Harcourt.

Rangers lost 2-1 at Sunshine Stars, also on Wednesday.

Both Rivers United and Rangers are now on 28 points and the same goals difference of +5, but the Port Harcourt club have scored fewer goals than Rangers.

It was a match day when the front runners slipped – third-placed Abia Warriors fell 3-2 at Nasarawa United and Lobi Stars crashed 1-0 at FC IfeanyiUbah.

Rivers United match winner against fellow front runners Wikki was Gabriel Olalekan, who headed home off a free kick in the 26th minute.
