NPFL REVIEW : Plateau United, 3SC share spoils in 6 goals thriller

After 90 minutes, it was Plateau United of Jos 3-3 Shooting Stars Sport Club of Ibadan in a pulsating Match Day 1 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL encounter at the New Jos Stadium.

A match with high expectations judging by the pedigree of the two coaches at the dugout, it lived up to it billing as Gbenga Ogiunbote almost went home with all points at Fidelis Ilechukwu's expense.

The two sides wasted no time to give the fans something to cheer as Akpan Joshua opened score for the visitors with a nice header in the 6th minute.

As the Peace Boys responded instantly throug Ifeanyi Emmanuel who equalled score with a fine finish two minutes later.

Okachi Anthony benefited from a fine assist from the boots of Onukwube Samuel to make 2-1 in favour of the Ibadan Boys in the 15th minute.

It was advantage 3SC as the first half ended 1-2 with Ogiunbote's Boys going into the tunnel with the momentum.

The early part of the second half saw Onukwube Samuel missed a one on one chance to increase the tally for Shooting Stars.

Thereafter, the home side piled the pressure, but it was the Warriors that will score in the 65th minute to increase the goal tally to two.

Substitute Akintunde Azeez capitalised on an error from Plateau Utd goalkeeper to score in an empty net.

However, that was a signal to the dramatic finish we saw as Izuchukwu Chimeze with a superb finish pulled one back for the home team in the 73rd minute.

Defender Ifeanyi Emmanuel with goal in the 82nd minute sent the home crowd into a frenzy as he restored parity leaving the remaining minutes of the game delicately poised.

The match ended that way as the two teams share a point each in a game that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
