Bright Ejike scored a late penalty as Heartland beat champions Enyimba 1-0 to record their first Oriental derby win in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Saturday,

Ejike kept his cool and slotted the ball past Moses Ocheje after Enyimba captain Chinedu Udoji fouled Oke Akpoveta in the box in added time.

In Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors defeated MFM FC 3-1 to continue their impressive home form.

After wasting a number of goal scoring opportunities, the hosts took a deserved lead through Mathias Samuel in the 14th minute.

Hussaini Bata doubled Ladan Bosso side's lead in the 36th minute, heading home Lukas Yahaya's cross.

The visitors pulled a goal back in the 55th minute  through Kenedium Nelson following an error by Lukaz.

MFM's hopes of staging  a comeback in the encounter were thwarted by substitute Daniel Japhet who scored his side's third goal  of the evening in the 66th minute after replacing Ohanachom five  minutes earlier.

The win extended El-Kanemi unbeaten run at home to 25 matches.
