NPFL: Resilient El Kanemi Warriors earn a point at Lobi

Published on: 17 October 2024

El Kanemi Warriors came from behind to earn a point against Lobi Stars in their Nigeria Premier Football League match day 7 encounter on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

A goal each by Ibrahim Mustapha and Mukhtar Mohammed saw the Borno Army come from behind to steal a point against Lobi Stars. Coach Daniel Amokachi, who was appointed the club's technical adviser, was leading the team in his first home game.

The hosts started pretty well taking the lead on 17 minutes through Ossy Martins' header.

They were two goals up through Ossy Martins who scored his second of the day after 53 minutes following an assist by Ajibola Adeleke.

However,  the lead was trimmed in no time as Ibrahim Mustapha scored in 57 minutes for the Maiduguri club.

Mukhtar Mohammed completed the spoiler with four minutes left to the end of the game as the tie ended 2-2. A result that denies Daniel Amokachi his first win as coach of the Maiduguri side.

The result means Lobi Stars have only garnered 6 points after 7 matches while El Kanemi Warriors have accumulated 8 points after 6 games.
