Remo Stars are champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League with three matches to spare after beating Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Sky Blue Stars beat Tornadoes 1-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium courtesy of a goal by Olamilekan Adedayo, which put them in the position of winning the title even before the end of the season.
Following Rivers United's 2-0 loss to Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Friday, Remo Stars needed a win to seal the deal.

Though it was a hard-fought victory, after the game at Ikenne remained goalless after 80 minutes, the hosts got the needed win in the 84th minute.
Substitute Adedayo came to the rescue with a rifling into the net to leave the home fans in a frenzy at the sound of the final whistle.

Remo secured top spot with 68 points, 10 points better than Rivers United, who are second, with three matches left to be played.
They are the 22nd different club to win the league. It is also their first ever major trophy since 15 years of its establishment.
