NPFL: Rangers take point off Sporting in Lagos

League leaders, Rangers International earned a crucial point in their matchday 34 encounter against Sporting Lagos away from home to continue their lead at the top on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Flying Antelopes stayed formidable to play a goalless draw against Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan to extend their lead to two points ahead of reigning champions Enyimba who had won their fixture against Rivers United.

Meanwhile, it was another day to forget for Gombe United who fell 2-0 to Sunshine Stars of Akure in their game at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe to get relegated.

Two early goals from Promise Awosanmi on  9 minutes and Lucky Nwafor on 28 minute earned the Akure Gunners maximum points.

With the loss, United remain 20th on the log with 25 points to become the first team to be relegated from the 2023/2024 NPFL season with 4 matches to end the league.

A goal in the last moment of the game by Bashir Usman gave Niger Tornadoes a point against Kwara United after Dehinde Ibrahim had scored for the visitors on 63 minute.
