NPFL: Plateau United compound Heartland woes with big win at Awka

Plateau United were in rampaging display after beating struggling side, Heartland FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League match day 22 fixture in Awka on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 2017 champions of the league  thumped the Naze Millionaires 5-1 to go second in the league standings at the Awka City Stadium, Anambra.

In a commanding performance, Plateau  raced into a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes after Olawale Doyeni opened scoring on 14 minutes before Lawrence Agbor added a second 6 minutes later.

The hosts had the opportunity to reduce the deficit on 39 minute, but Plateau goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso kept out Promise Anyanwu's spot kick to keep the score 2-0 at half time.

The Peace Boys picked things up from where they left in the second half after Nenrot Silas added the third goal 2 minutes into the half.

Victor Makalala increased the tempo of the game towards the end of the tie with Plateau United's fourth of the game on 88 minute.

Harrison Ebah made it 5-0 after 4 minutes of additional time to finally crumble the bottom place hosts who scored a minute later through Onyekachi Okafor to end the encouounter 5-1.
