Plateau United maintained their leadership in the Nigeria Professional Football League table after holding Shooting Stars to a 1-1 draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on matchday 12 on Sunday, but the game was almost marred by the disgraceful actions of the Plateau United Coach Kennedy Boboye.
Johnson Ibeh gave Plateau United the lead in the 45th minute.
But in the 70th minute, Ibrahim Adebayo equalised from the penalty spot for Shooting Stars. The game was temporarily held up after Boboye surprising lounged at some Shooting Stars officials, but the situation was resolved and the NPFL leaders held on.
Plateau now have 22 points following the draw against Shooting Stars.
Meanwhile, Champions Rangers’ woes this season continued following their 1-0 away loss to Rivers United at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The only goal of the game came in the first minute thanks to Esosa Igbinoba strike to give Rivers the win. At the Sani Abacha Stadium, 10-man Kano Pillars beat Enyimba 3-1.
A brace from Kabiru Balogun in the 24th and 61st minutes, and a late goal from Gambo Mohammed secured the win for Pillars who have now gone five games unbeaten.
Enyimba’s only goal was scored by Stephen Chukwude on 69 minutes from the penalty spot after former Enyimba defender Chinedu Udoji handled the ball inside the box and was sent off.
