NPFL Match Report: Remo Stars get maximum points in Gombe

Remo Stars of Ikenne got all points after defeating Gombe United in their second match of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe.

The Sky Blue Stars achieved a consecutive win this time away from home after substitute, Andy Okpe's late minute goal sealed the win.

The tie featured a Gombe United side that were seeking their first after getting an impressive away draw against a Remo Stars that sought to continue their good start to the season.

It was the home side who had the ascendency from the blast of the whistle till the end of the first half as missed chances were their undoing  ending the tie goalless at half time.

In the second half, the home team continued with the upper hand as they got a 52 minutes penalty after an infringement.

However, Christian Molokwu unfortunately stepped up for the spot kick and played it over the bar leaving the score at 0-0.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede brought in Andy Okpe for Abdulrasheed Awoyemi to change the complexion of the game.

There was improvement in the game of Remo Stars as the push to score intensified as Seth Mayo came in too for Dare Ojo in the 84th minute.

In the 88th minute, Junior Nduka from a free kick passed to Adams Olamilekan who squared the ball to Okpe to score the goal.

Late minute save and a resolute defending made Gombe's effort at goal futile as Remo Stars ran with the three points.

The win means Remo Stars top group A with 6 points alongside, Bendel Insurance while Gombe United sit 8th with a point.

Remo Stars will host Shooting Stars Sport Club of Ibadan in their next game at home on Wednesday while Gombe will travel to El Kanemi Warriors for their next game.
