NPFL: Madu Sure Heartland Will Soldier On From Derby Defeat

Despite losing two-nil away to FC Ifeanyiubah on Matchday 8 of the Nigeria Professional League, Heartland head coach Ramson Madu says he is happy with the performance of his boys and is confident that the team will push on to get better as the season progresses.

Heartland suffered their first away defeat and their second defeat of the season at the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium as Ekene Awazie and Seka Pascal took turns to score in each half while Heartland’s closest attempts were returned by the woodwork.

“I have nothing to complain about the game. I am very happy with my boys. They played very well but lost to hard luck while FC Ifeanyiubah were lucky to make their chances count and scored cheap goals,” Madu said.

“Those cheap goals and the hard luck of hitting the bar tend to demoralize my boys. They played well but that is why after all preparations, it is important to pray for your boys to be lucky to score goals. Nonetheless, we are pushing on. The team is getting better with each match and you will see how we will turn out towards the end of the season,” Madu said.

The Naze Millionaires, as they are nicknamed opened the season on a lacklustre note, probably still adjusting on their return from the second tier, as they were held to a goalless draw by visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri. But things looked up on Matchday 2 when they earned a point on the road in a nil-nil against Enyimba of Aba
