Lobi Stars have announced the appointment of Nigeria Super Eagles legend, Daniel Amokachi as the club's technical Adviser, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.
The Markurdi side relieved their head coach Eugene Agagbe of his duties, replacing him with the former Super Eagles assistant Coach.
A statement from the club states that the move by the club was necessitated by the club's performance after a review of the five matches played so far this season.
"In a major shakeup, the Board of Lobi Stars FC has officially relieved Coach Eugene Agagbe of his position as Chief Coach with immediate effect. This decision follows the Board’s review of Agagbe’s failure to meet a five-match win target, managing only one victory while losing three."
The club says "Amokachi's appointment also takes immediate effect, as the club seeks to revitalize its strategy and improve performance on the field."
The statement further revealed that Agagbe and all backroom staff were relieved of their duties and instructed to reapply if they wished to continue with the club. They have been asked to hand over all club property in their possession to the club's secretary immediately.
Amokachi's appointment makes it three former Nigeria football legends who are now coaching NPFL sides - Finidi George with Rivers United and Emmanuel Amuneke with Heartland FC.
