NPFL: IMC Chairman says poor stadia will not be allowed

Published on: 23 November 2022

As modalities are being put in place before the start of the NPFL, the Interim Management Committee have stated that no stadia in bad condition will be allowed to be used by any club in the new season.

This follows the decision made known after the IMC met with the 20 clubs in the league in Abuja on Tuesday.

The chairman of the IMC, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye stated while speaking with the press the agreement reached with the clubs at the meeting.

"We discussed club licensing and facilities, we made the clubs understand that if their stadium failed to meet the required standard they have to go and play in another venue.

"We want to put our league matches on the television and the pitch must be television friendly because for the whole world to see Nigerian league, we want the players to be exposed to the world," he insisted.

It will be recalled that last season some teams in the NPFL had to use another stadium due to the poor state of their pitch.
