Rangers International new signing, Tekena Garando has disclosed his reasonings for making the switch from Bayelsa United, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The midfield maestro left last season's relegated threatened Bayelsa United for the league champions as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with the Prosperity Boys.

Tekena in an exclusive with Nigeriasoccernet.com, says more than the feat achieved by the club recently, he feels he is destined to be at the Enugu based club.

The Bayelsa State player expressed delight over his move even though it was not easy leaving a club in spent three of years with, but he felt it was time to leave for another challenge.

"I'm very happy coming to Rangers. Leaving Bayelsa United was not easy because I played there for three years and Bayelsa United felt like home. I just feel it is right time for me to leave. I wanted to try something else. I wanted a new challenge."

Tekena disclosed he several offers from clubs, but Rangers International was the deal breaker for him after considering the club's achievement.

"I had offers from clubs, I think about seven to eight clubs in the league, but at the end of the day I decided to come to Rangers. I felt Rangers will be good because they are of one of the best teams in the league. They won the league last season and before last season, they won it in 2016. So, I just want to play football and hope I can win titles with Rangers."

The Lagos State born says Rangers International winning the title is not a major reason for his move, but it was time for him to be part of the Flying Antelopes.

"Well I wouldn't say winning the trophy was my major reason for coming to Rangers because I just feel I was destined to be here at this point in time. I can remember 2016, the last time Rangers won the league, I was still a corp member and Coach Imama had invited me to join them, but I had to leave as was playing for NYSC then. So, I think this time, it's meant to be."

He adds that another reason for opting for the 8-time NPFL champions is because the club showed they wanted him.

"One of the reasons why I am here is because they really showed interest in me. The Coach showed he really wanted me to be here and I believe in what they are trying to do here, what they are trying to achieve. I know this season they will also be playing in the Continental. So, I think it is also an opportunity for me." He said.

The former Abia Warriors central midfielder was nominated as one of the best players last season for Bayelsa United last season after scoring five goals.

He has started training with Rangers International since his arrival this week as the new season beckons.
