The LMC on Wednesday slammed another N250,000 fine on the club for failing to provide ball boys, security in its league match against Wikki Tourist at its new home ground of Ilorin. The fine is to assuage the cost incurred by the LMC in hiring the stadium for the match and also pay for ball boys, provide security at the stadium. Recall that the club was fined N6.5 million as a result of the fracas in its week 12 league match against Rangers in Jos. Because of the fracas, the match was abandoned with 16 minutes left for play, with Rangers leading 1-0 at the time. For failing to honour the remaining 16 minutes left for play against Rangers in Abuja at the instance of the LMC, Giwa was fined N3.5 million. According to LMC, it was the prerogative of the home team to provide ball boys, security, saying since Giwa FC was playing at its adopted home, Ilorin, it was to provide logistics. The twitter message reads: “MD 14: Giwa FC forfeits 3 points, 3 goals for failing to turn up against Wikki Tourist. “Giwa FC fined N250K; being cost of hiring Ilorin Stadium -their new “home”- and providing security, ball boys, etc as is expected of hosts. Meanwhile, players of Giwa FC are grumbling over the uncertainties hanging over them as the Jos club will be thrown out of the Nigeria Professional Football League should it fails to honour a second straight league match this weekend. Several players of the club revealed that they were unhappy as they have not been paid salaries for several months now. At the weekend, Wikki Tourists walked over Giwa at the Ilorin Stadium after the Jos club stayed away from the match venue following its banishment from the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos on account of crowd trouble recently. Should Giwa fail to honour its next game away to Abia Warriors on Sunday, the club will be expelled from the league as clearly stipulated in the rules of the competition. One of the disturbed Giwa players said their fate was hanging on the balance. “We don’t know what next for us here. All we do is to go to training and come back. We are not happy at all,” he complained. “We went to Jos Stadium last weekend for the game against Wikki and there were no referees for the game. We the players are in dilemma right now and every day we get frustrated.” Another player informed that they have not been paid salaries. “We are being owed salary, some four months, some three and others two months,” he disclosed.
