Abia Warriors Coach, Erasmus Onuh after their first match of the season which ended in a win, has sounded optimistic of his team's chances of winning the league.
The Warriors made a huge statement to the start of their league campaign after beating 7-time champions, Rangers of Enugu two nil away from home in at the Awka City Stadium on Sunday.
That win, Onuh says will be a propellant to greater things to come this season.
“That’s the beginning, I’ve been asked several times what am I going to do in my first match and we took it as it come and we are taking it as it come, I cannot tell you, I will win this match but I will be taking the match as it comes,” he told media.
He disclosed that he is not ruling out the chance of the Warriors going all out to win the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League at the end of the season. However, games will be taken as they come.
“If the opportunity comes for me to win the league, I’m happy but you know, you cannot say, you only know about yourself and not about somebody else, so you take them as they come.
“Every match has its own preparation. There’s nothing different than hard-work, I have boys who are cooperating, fantastic and I have got discipline team in the league.
“Actually, we are seeing something but we don’t know what will happen next, we will take it as it comes, we have taken this untill another one comes, then we will know what to say.
“You know actually this is not the main squad that we are supposed to use in this match because of hiccups in the registration, so they are here, if you look at us we are 16, we have to change the plan but you know I make every player familiar with every position, anywhere I play you, you have to give me the result.”
Abia Warriors will welcome newly promoted, Bayelsa United to the Umuahia Township Stadium in their second game on Wednesday.
