NPFL: Enyimba return to winning ways against Plateau United

Eight-time league champions, Enyimba of Aba got a vital victory against former league champions, Plateau United at the Enyimba International Stadium on Sunday, reports.

The People's Elephant defeated the Jos Boys two goals to one to go end four matches streak without a win.

Enyimba opened score after edging it in possession in the 35th minute of the game through Imo Obot through a free kick.

The opportunity to consolidate score in the half presented itself for debutant, Eriugo, but his effort went straight into the hands of the goalkeeper to end the first half 1-0.

The home side continued with the momentum of the first half to increase their lead through league top scorer, Chukwuemeka Obioma who netted his 10th goal of the season in the 52nd minute.

Chimezie scored in the 71st minute to reduce deficit and give United hope of getting something out of the tie, but it only proved a consolation as the match ended 2-1.

With the win, Enyimba leapfrog Plateau United to go fourth, three points ahead of their opponents in the Nigeria Premier Football League group A standings.
