Akwa United recorded a vital victory in their Nigeria Premier Football League match day 23 fixture against defending champions, Enyimba FC on Monday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

In a pulsating encounter, the hosts were on a high with an early lead courtesy of Left back David Philip's tap in from close range.

Suleiman Sani received a good pass and rounded the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into an empty net to double the lead.
Jean Efala made a great save to tip the ball away from goal onto the crossbar again from another Imo Obot's free kick after United's second goal.
In the 72nd minute, Substitute Chijioke Mbaoma pulled one back for Enyimba from the spot after Efala brought down the striker in the box.
However, Suleiman Sani scored his second of the afternoon with a delightful finish to secure 3 points for Akwa United on their return to Uyo.
