Following Rangers' 1-0 victory over Remo Stars, who were currently atop the table, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu is starting to hold out hope that Rangers will be among the top three teams at the end of the season.
Rangers International's "Flying Antelopes" won the game with a magnificent 25-meter free kick from substitute Agu Kenechukwu that went past a helpless Bankole Kayode and nestled in the net on minute 56.
Ilechukwu had shown respect for the visitors before the game, calling them potential champions prior to the game on Saturday after Gombe's convincing victory over Doma United away from home.
Following the game at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Ilechukwu addressed and once more showed respect for the opponents led by Dan Ogunmodede, the power dresser.
The Rangers manager believes that after defeating a formidable team like Remo Stars, their chances of winning the remaining games of the season are better.
"We played a fantastic game today, and we defeated Remo Stars, a top team, with great justice. They put up a good fight, but even if our first team left a lot to be desired, we knew what we wanted and went after it".
"The team as a whole put up a strong fight for the most points, but our replacements worked their magic for us. We continue to focus on our remaining games with great hope that we will be rewarded at the conclusion of the campaign", he added.
