Fulham are determined to retain Calvin Bassey amid growing interest from several top European clubs following his standout performances during a crucial campaign under Marco Silva, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
Signed from Ajax in 2023 for €21 million, the Nigerian international initially struggled to adapt but has since staged a remarkable turnaround, becoming a key figure in Fulham's defensive setup, a rise that has not gone unnoticed across the continent.
According to senior transfer writer Dean Jones of GiveMeSport, Fulham are aware of the mounting interest but are committed to keeping the core of their squad intact.
“Fulham anticipate interest in Calvin Bassey this summer but intend to keep the current side together. They believe he is going to become even better next season – not open to offers,” Jones reported.
Bassey's numbers last season underline his importance: across 35 appearances, he scored once, helped secure 15 victories and 5 clean sheets, and was instrumental in defense with 54 tackles (63% success rate), 113 clearances, and 5 blocked shots with the performances earning him Fulham's player of the season.
