The Nationwide League One, NLO has declared the complaint presented by Abray Sport Football Club against Igbajo United as lacking merit, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Abray Sport of Kwara State had brought before the NLO issues of ineligibility bothering on a player of Igbajo United after they lost 2-1 to the Osun based club in their first NLO playoffs played in Ado-Ekiti on the 28th of May 2024.
The NLO stated that Abray Sport failed to do their due diligence after presenting the case 24 hours after the match, an action the league body says "negates the provisions of the rules and regulations of NLO guiding protest on the eligibility of players. (Art. 6:01.4)."
The NLO continued by saying "the protest was not reported by any of the match officials in their reports, which indicated that the protest was an afterthought" and the picture of the player in question was not taken.
Hence, it ruled that the protest holds no water and is struck out and the 2-1 result in favour of Igbajo United against Abray Sport stands.
