NLO Super 8 begins with wins for Madiba, Police Barreta, Mailantarki Care as Smart City is held

The anticipated Nigeria League One (NLO) Super 8 tournament began on Monday, the 3rd of October at the Legacy Stadium.

 

Mailantarki Care, Madiba FC and Police Barreta were slim winners in their respective games while ten man Smart City playey stalemate.

 

Mailantarki Care, FC Ebedei, Smart City and Kun Khalifat FC in group A took the afternoon session of the tournament on the first day.

 

JNR Danburam, Madiba FC, Aspire FC and Police Barreta in group B got the tournament started with Madiba FC piping JNR Danburam by a solitary goal.

 

Solomon Aliyu scored the winner in the 70th match to give his side the maximum point in Lagos.

Another lone goal by Bidemi Owuku in the 89th minute gave the Police Barreta a needed win over Aspire FC.

 

Mailantarki Care and FC Ebedei slugged it out in a three goal thriller that saw Care triumph by two goals to one at the end of ninety minute.

Auwal Abba put Care in the lead while Abdulazeez Maiyadi extended the two goal margin, but Adekunle Musiliu scored what later became a consolation Ebedei.

 

In the last encounter of the day, Smart City played a one all draw against Kun Khalifat FC.

 

Jaleel Lateef had put City in front in the first half, but Khalifat capitalised on the one man advantage of Smart City to equal score in the second half.

City's Ridwan Omotosho had been given the matching orders in the 44tu minute of the first half.
