NLO: Sporting Lagos FA sustain fine form with big win over Chekas FC

Sporting Lagos Football Academy made it three over three after beating Chekas FC in their third match of the 2025 Nationwide League One season in Lagos, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The young Tech Boys thumped Chekas 6-0 at the Maracana Stadium on Wednesday to maintain a stellar start to the season.

The encounter remained tight with no goals to report until the 45th minute when Abubakir Ibrahim got his much-deserved goal, after coming close on various attempts.

In the second half, the floodgates of goals were opened as goalscorer turned provider, Abubakir Ibrahim, with a great run on the right to square it for Linus Zika to finish off on 52 minutes.

Linus got his second of the afternoon, smashing his shot into the top corner through Yusuf Abdullahi's after the one-hour mark.

Yusuf Abdullahi buried a swift counter into the bottom corner to make it 4-0 on 64 minutes before Fuhad Ojediran got his share of the spoil after being assisted by Oluebube 10 minutes later.

Chekas were reduced to ten men in the 77th minute, giving the numerical advantage to Sporting Lagos Football Academy, who exploited the more the already weakened side.

Oluebube Ogowuikwu pounced on a loose pass to lob the goalkeeper from yards out, putting the icing on the cake with five minutes left to the end of the encounter.
