Nigeria's opponent Cote D'Ivoire begin AFCON prep in San Pedro as Simon Adingra recovers from injury

Nigeria's opponent and host nation of the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations, Cote D'Ivoire arrived San Pedro ahead of the tournament that will kick off in 10 days time, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 27-man squad and the coaching crew arrived the Bas-Sassandra region on Monday and had their first training on Tuesday at Stade Auguste Desine de San Pedro.

The team is drawn in group A alongside Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau which it first game to hold on 13 January against Guinea Bissau before playing Nigeria 5 days later.

The Elephants who last won the tournament in 2015 and seeking to get their third title will end their group campaign on 22 January against Equatorial Guinea.

Meanwhile, Simon Adingra and Sébastien Haller were given special training as they recover from injury.

This comes a couple of days after Adingra stated “I will do everything in my power to be ready and help my country go all the way.”

The Brighton and Hove Albion forward was revealed a week ago to be out for 5 weeks by Seagulls Manager Roberto De Zerbi after sustaining a harmstring injury.
