Nigerian Strikers Kalu,Eleke Shine In Seven Goal Thriller UEFA Champions League qualifiers

The seven goal thriller between Slovenia’s Olimpija Ljubljana and AS Trencin of Slovakia in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers saw two Nigerians getting among the goals from the five who took part in the tie. Samuel Kalu of AS Trencin helped his team take a shock 2-0 lead when he scored in the 6th minute with Blessing Eleke strike in the 89th minute ending as a consolation as Trencin ran out 3-4 winners.

Trencin had the Nigerian trio of goalscorer Kalu, Rabiu Ibrahim and Kingsley Madu on from the start while Christopher Udeh was introduced as a second half substitute on the dot of regulation time.

Eleke didn’t start for Olimpija but the forward who was a record transfer from fellow Slovenia side Gorica in January made his case for a start with his 90th minute goal, his 4th for the team since joining them.

Kalu on the other hand had a whirlwind end to last season finishing with 3 goals from 13 games for league winners Trencin and the forward who will turn 18 in August is reportedly been watched by several European team.
