Nigerian Striker Emenike On Fire In Turkey

Published on: 01 July 2016

Fenerbahçe of Turkey striker, Emmanuel Emenike has virtually caught fire back at his base in Istanbul, as the former Super Eagles star charges himself for a return to relevance with the top-flight club.

Since joining Fenerbahce in the summer of 2013, Emenike endured his worst spell with the club in the 2014/15 season when he attempted to substitute himself in a league game following boos from fans.

However, Emenike is now back at Fenerbahçe after a stillborn loan deal at Al-Ain of United Arab Emirates was followed by a disappointing spell with West Ham United of England, but he now appears desperate to regain the spotlight he once enjoyed with the Turkish Super Lig club.

With that mission on his mind, reports out of The Land of The Ottoman indicate that Emenike continues to impress during training with the club and is catching the eye of the technical crew since the start of pre-season drills last week.

Though the 29-year-old all-action attacker will still have to beat off competition from Dutch striker, Robin Van Persie and Brazilian ace, Fernandao for a starting role in Ferne’s attack next season, he appears just intent for now on getting a regular at Sukru Saracoglu Stadyumu.

Before now, Emenike, who has previously played for Black Aces and FC Cape Town of South Africa as well as Karabukspor of Turkey and Spartak Moscow of Russia, had voiced his desire to remain at Fenerbahçe next season.

Despite initial reports that the Istanbul club had thoughts about either selling him or letting go on loan once again, the dust appears to have settled and Emenike is now doing his cause a whole lot of good with his top form and good attitude in pre-season.

According to respected Turkish Sport site, Fanatik, Emenike has been finding the back of the net in training which has drawn him applause from the coach of the team Victor Pereira on more than one occasion.

As if on cue, Fernebahce’s president, Aziz Yildirim has revealed that Emenike will feature for the side in the coming season, with a verdict that the striker is in the club’s plan and will be registered for the campaign.

An additional report by fanatik.com.tr disclosed that Emenike, who joined the rest of Fernebahce’s squad last weekend for pre-season training, is once again in the good books of the fans, management and teammates.
