Turkish champions, Istanbul Basaksehir have announced the permanent capture of Nigerian midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu on a 3-year deal after a successful loan stint at the club.
The Dream Team Eagles captain initially joined Basaksehir on loan from Egyptian side Pyramid FC for the 2019/2020 season but after helping them to their maiden league title, the midfielder was tied down till the summer of 2022-2023.
“We are happy to announce that our club decided to use the option in Okechukwu Azubuike’s contract and transfer the player until 2022-2023 season. Welcome again and good luck Azu!,” the club announced on their twitter handle.
The 23-year-old featured in 19 league games for Basaksehir last campaign, winning 13 of those games to help them clinch the Turkish Super Lig title as well as a Round of 16 place in the Europa League.
