Nigeria-Russia: Chelle urges Super Eagles to keep winning streak alive

Published on: 06 June 2025

Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, has emphasized the importance of maintaining the team's winning momentum in their upcoming friendly against Russia, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.

Nigeria has won three and drawn one of their four matches under Chelle, with the coach confident that his side can continue their success despite the absence of key players.

The Super Eagles are set to face Russia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Friday night, looking to build on their recent triumph in the Unity Cup, where they defeated Ghana and Jamaica.

Chelle believes that the friendly is an opportunity to prepare for future tournaments and qualifying matches.

"We have serious goals: firstly, we want to win, secondly, to prepare for the next tournaments and qualifying matches," Chelle said through an interpreter during a press conference in Moscow.

Despite being without top stars Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Wilfred Ndidi, Chelle is optimistic that his team can cope with their absence.
