FC Copenhagen has confirmed the departure of Nigeria-eligible forward German Onugkha to Vejle Boldklub on loan for the rest of the season, Nigeriasoccernet.com can confirm.
Sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen said; "We brought German in to strengthen the competition in our attack during an autumn half of the season with many games. However, as the autumn progressed, the hierarchy has shifted," says sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen.
"That’s football – things evolve, and in this case, it means German is no longer at the forefront of the battle for playing time. German has been presented with a good opportunity to return to Vejle and get more minutes on the pitch.
"German has been extremely professional and has put in a great effort. He’s been very loyal, always present at the training ground, and always supportive of his teammates. He deserves a lot of praise for that."
The 28-year-old striker, who was born to a Russian mother and a Nigerian father, is returning to the Danish club. Last season, he was the highest goal scorer in the Superliga, with seven appearances and a goal for Copenhagen.
