Interim head coach, Augustine Eguavoen praised his side's determination after Fisayo Dele-Bashiru's 90th-minute strike secured a 1-0 win over Libya in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Dele-Bashiru's late goal at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo maintained Nigeria's top spot in Group D.

"I expected us to score more goals," Eguavoen said. "Overall, we are happy to maintain our top spot. I was feeling bad, but we kept pushing and progressing. Emotions were high. Libya defended in numbers and we are happy to win."

Eguavoen acknowledged his side's slow start but praised their improved second-half display.

"We were a bit slow in the first half, but the second half was good; we were faster and we got the goal," he added.

The Super Eagles face Libya again in three days' time.
