Nigeria born former Togolese and Arsenal striker, Emmanuel Seyi Adebayo is set to pocket a half million-dollar payday - after Fifa ruled the striker's club had sacked him unfairly, Nigeriasoccernet can report.

Adebayor who was capped by Togo 66 times, scoring 29 goals and playing at his country’s maiden World Cup in 2006 joined Paraguayan club Olimpia in February 2020 on a one-year deal after leaving Turkish club Kayserispor in December 2019, but his contract was torn up four months later after Covid-19 halted their season.

For this wrongful termination of contract, FIFA has asked Olimpia to pay Legendary Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor a sum of $510,000.

Adebayor made four appearances in the Paraguayan Primera Division and Copa Libertadores until football was suspended once Covid-19 became a severe global health risk.

And Fifa's football tribunal has now ordered Olimpia to pay Adebayor 510,000 dollars (£420,000), plus 12 per cent interest backdated to 2020.

"There's nothing we can do about contracts that were previously signed," Olimpia president Miguel Cardona said, quoted by Sun Sports.

"But the club will change its policy on salaries, and impose a pay cap.

"We had a demand for payment from Adebayor. We knew he was on 200,000 dollars a month."

Emmanuel Seyi Adebayor has been off the football pitch since his contract got terminated two years ago.
