Nigeria’s Super Eagles have arrived in Bissau ahead of Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Group L, matchday two qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.
The squad landed at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport on Sunday evening after travelling from Uyo. The arrival was confirmed by the team’s media officer, Peomise Efoghe.
Head coach Eric Chelle is leading Nigeria into the fixture, which will be played against the Djurtus at Estadio 24 de Setembro on Tuesday, September 29.
The match is the Super Eagles’ second in the qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Nigeria began their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar in Uyo, although they had to recover after falling behind. Debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor scored the goals that secured the win.
That result has given the Super Eagles a positive start to the qualifiers, and another victory in Bissau would put them in a strong position at the top of Group L.
Guinea-Bissau also opened their campaign with a victory. The Djurtus recorded a 2-0 away win against Tanzania, one of the three co-hosts of the 2027 tournament.
Both teams therefore enter Tuesday’s meeting with winning starts behind them, with Nigeria seeking to maintain their momentum and Guinea-Bissau aiming to make home advantage count.
The Super Eagles will now complete their preparations in Bissau before facing a Guinea-Bissau side that began the qualifying series with an impressive result on the road.
