As reported earlier, Bayelsa United have not been given their N25 million prize money for winning the Aiteo Cup on August 8 when they defeated Nasarawa United 4-3 on penalties, following a 2-2 draw at end of extra-time at the Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

Chairman of Bayelsa United, Ebiki Timitimi, while on a sports program, explained: "The club have written to the apex football body in Nigeria to demand payment of the Twenty-Five Million Naira prize money, yet the NFF has failed to keep to their promise after one year for both teams Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens."

Timitimi also dismissed reports that the Prosperity Boys have refused to return the trophy won last year due to non-payment of the Aiteo Cup largesse by the NFF.

According to him: "The club was yet to receive any official request demanding the return of the trophy describing the report as untrue."
