The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Players Status and Arbitration Committee has mandated indebted clubs in the Nigeria National League (NNL) to settle all outstanding debts owed to players, coaches, and administrators before they can register for the forthcoming 2025/26 season.
This directive was communicated in an official letter issued by the NNL’s Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, ahead of the new campaign.
The letter partly reads:
“We are under the instruction of the Nigeria Football Federation that all clubs indebted to players, coaches, and administrators, whose cases have been adjudicated by the Players Status and Arbitration Committee, must comply fully before clubs will be allowed to register for the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League season.
“Concerned clubs are therefore expected to show evidence of compliance with the decisions of the NFF Players Status and Arbitration Committee when coming for registration.”
The NNL management also stressed that failure to comply with this directive could see defaulting clubs barred from participation in the new season.
The move is part of the NFF’s wider effort to enforce professionalism, protect players’ welfare, and promote accountability across Nigeria’s football league system.
