President of the Nigeria Football Federation,Amaju Pinnick, is holding secret meetings with Minister of State, Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director,NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu regarding the payment of salaries for an expatriate coach.
The Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has informed the leadership of the NFF that he is against the idea of hiring a foreign coach to manage the Super Eagles and will only give his approval if the funds for the payment of the coach are sourced from the private sector.
Now, Pinnick, who was sighted at the office of Kachikwu , has opened dialogues with the Minister and has pleaded with him to do everything possible to convince the big MNCs like Shell and Total to foot the salary of the expatriate coach as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR).
Bear it in mind that the NNPC has the financial muscle to foot the foreign coach’s bills but the Sports Minister has stated in clear terms that the government should not shoulder the expenses.
Frenchman Paul Le Guen is odds-on favourite to be appointed the Nigeria manager if the NFF supremo succeeds in his plan, with the likes of Clemens Westerhof and an unnamed German lagging behind.
