Newcastle's Aleksandar Mitrovic Dismisses Serie A Rumours and Is Focusing on Promotion

Aleksander Mitrovic has dismissed talk of move linking away from St James' Park and insists he is concentrating on firing Newcastle back into the Premier League.


Serie A heavyweights "?Napoli had been the bookies' favourites to offer the the Serbian striker a way out of second tier football, but the 22-year-old, who has scored five times in the Championship for Rafa Benitez's table topping side this season, appears happy to stay put on Tyneside for the time being.


When asked about the Napoli rumours by the "?Sun, the former Anderlecht man admitted it was nice to be noticed, before issuing a 'clear thanks but no thanks' to any potential January suitors.

"It's always nice when big clubs are interested in you." Mitrovic stated.


"But I am in Newcastle and I want to come back to the Premier League. We are in a good way, I am just focusing on Newcastle and I want to score goals for them."


Mitrovic, who has a remarkable seven goals and an assist in his last six matches for club and country, assured fans that he is fully focused on the games ahead with Newcastle. 

"We have a few big games coming up. We have Leeds, Hull, Blackburn so they are tough games. But we know what we want from the season."


Apparently not satisfied with his answers, the Sun pressed the powerful striker for further clarification, asking categorically if he would be at the club until the end of the season.


To which Newcastle's number 45 replied, simply: "Yes."?
