Newcastle United have made their move for Andre Ayew, with the Magpies reportedly opening talks with representatives of the Marseille winger.
Tottenham, Everton and West Ham are also interested in the 25-year-old, but it is the north east side who are first to show their hand, Goal is reporting.
Ayew, who has nine goals in 27 appearances for the title-chasing Ligue 1 club season, is out of contract at Stade Velodrome at the end of the campaign, and is therefore free to discuss a switch with potential suitors.
The Ghana international, a star of the African Cup of Nations earlier this year as his country made the final, is understood to be unwilling to take a pay cut to stay with his current club, which has prompted a host of clubs to make a move for his services.
United’s league rivals are all keen to speak with Ayew, but it is John Carver’s men who are confident they can win the race to his signature.
