Newcastle target Andre Ayew reveals Marseille financial problems could force him out
Andre Ayew has stated that Marseille are unable to meet his salary demands

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew has revealed that financial problems at French side Marseille could lead to his exit because they are unable to meet the high salary demands of players of his caliber.

According to reports to France, Marseille forward Andre Ayew looks certain to leave the club in the summer after comments he made this weekend.

The Ghana international’s contract expires in June and clubs like Newcastle United are ready to take advantage of the situation.

Le10 Sport have reported on the latest developments involving Ayew and his future with Marseille.

Talks have stalled on extending his contract with the Ligue 1 club and it seems that wages will be the deciding factor as to whether he will stay in France.

It has been claimed that his likely destination will be England if he does move on in the summer and it will be to a club that can take on his wage demands.

Marseille have adopted a salary policy in recent years which could see Ayew leave the club, and also his teammate Andre-Pierre Gignac, in the next transfer window.

Speaking to the French media on Sunday, Ayew said that Marseille have financial problems and therefore can’t pay certain wages.

He revealed he is still open to staying with the French club and that they will soon have a meeting on his future.

However, he said that he will not take a pay cut to remain with Marseille as a player needs to progress in all aspects.

“The OM has financial worries, they cannot pay certain wages. I am at the OM, I can still be here tomorrow. In my head, everything is open. But I like the OM. There will soon be a meeting. A pay cut to stay in OM? No, a player wants to progress in all aspects," said the Ghanaian.

Last week we covered the story that Newcastle had opened talks with Ayew with regards to a pre contract agreement. The forward will be a free agent in the summer and Newcastle can snap him up on a free transfer.
