Feyenoord could face a major decision over Anis Hadj Moussa in the January transfer window, with journalist Michel van Egmond suggesting the Dutch club should consider selling the Algeria winger for between 35m and 40m euros.
Van Egmond also believes any deal should be protected by a bank guarantee before Feyenoord agree to part with the player. Newcastle are expected to be among the clubs monitoring the situation.
The future of Hadj Moussa was discussed during episode S07E07 of the Dick Voormekaar Podcast, broadcast by Voetbal International. Van Egmond used the programme to argue that Feyenoord should be open to a winter departure if the right offer arrives.
Newcastle interest expected
The journalist’s view is that Feyenoord should not overlook the opportunity to make a significant financial return on the 23-year-old. He believes the Rotterdam club should demand a fee of 35m to 40m euros, while insisting on a bank guarantee to secure the transfer.
Newcastle have been linked with a possible move and are expected to decide whether to make an approach during the next transfer window. However, the details of any potential offer remain unclear.
That interest could leave Feyenoord weighing the value of retaining an important attacking player against the possibility of completing a substantial sale. The Dutch club would need to assess both the financial terms and the guarantees attached to any proposal before deciding whether to proceed.
Al Ittihad also made approaches for Hadj Moussa during the summer transfer window, although that move ultimately collapsed, as reported exclusively by Africafoot. Hadj Moussa is under contract with Feyenoord until 2030 and is valued at 28m euros by Transfermarkt.
A bid in the range suggested by Van Egmond would therefore be considerably higher than the player’s current Transfermarkt valuation. Whether Newcastle will formally enter negotiations, and whether the club would meet Feyenoord’s financial demands, are still unresolved.
Feyenoord are due to play Fortuna Sittard in their 10th match of the Dutch league season. The fixture will take place as the club continues to manage speculation surrounding Hadj Moussa’s future.
The winger’s situation could develop quickly if a formal offer arrives in January, but for now the proposed asking price, the requirement for a bank guarantee and Newcastle’s level of interest remain the key points in the transfer discussions.
