Qatar will be in Group A alongside Portugal, Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan and will play the matches "at home" in Europe to shorten the away matches of the opponents as much as possible. As Qatar is entitled to qualify for the World Cup as a host nation, its results will not affect the qualification.
