Mason Greenwood, a 19-year-old Manchester United striker, was not called up by Gareth Southgate.
Greenwood was a member of Southgate's preliminary team for that tournament before being forced to withdraw due to injury.
He's had a strong start to the season, scoring twice in United's first two Premier League games.
Greenwood's long-term international career, though, will benefit from a rest in the coming weeks, according to Southgate.
"He has every chance to be a top England player," Southgate said of Greenwood.
"We're all aligned on that. Mason, his family, his club, and us. The best thing for Mason after these first few games is to stay with his club, but he's very much a player we like.
