On Friday, Germany coach Hansi Flick announced three fresh call-ups and five recalls, including Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund as one of his first picks for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Flick maintained the rebuilding begun by his predecessor by bringing up Hoffenheim midfielder David Raum, Freiburg defender Nico Schlotterbeck, and Salzburg attacker Karim Adeyemi for the first time since taking over from Joachim Löw. All three players are under the age of 23.

Reus' Dortmund colleague Mahmoud Dahoud, Paris Saint-Germain defender Thilo Kehrer, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz, and Wolfsburg defender Ridle Baku were all called up by Flick. None of the five were included in Löw's European Championship team.

Flick's first game as coach will be against Lichtenstein in St. Gallen on Thursday, followed by Armenia in Stuttgart three days later, before a travel to Reykjavik to face Iceland on Sept. 8.
