After semi-professional club Lincoln Red Imps qualified for the third-tier Europa Conference League on Thursday, Gibraltar will have a team in the group stage of a European tournament for the first time.
In a playoff match against visiting Riga of Latvia, Lincoln triumphed 3-1 in extra time at the national stadium to advance 4-2 on aggregate.
Lincoln will be up against former European champion Feyenoord, as well as Tottenham and Roma, both of whom have been defeated finals in the European Cup or Champions League.
Since 2014, teams from Gibraltar, a British territory with a population of around 33,000 people, have been eligible to compete for European championships.
They have improved the country's overall position in club tournaments to No. 49 among UEFA's 55 member federations.
