Napoli are monitoring Udinese defender Oumar Solet as they consider ways to strengthen their defence, according to Gazzetta.it.
The 26-year-old has attracted attention with a series of notable performances at the back for Udinese. Born in Melun and of Ivorian origin, Solet is known for his physical power and positional awareness, qualities that have made him an increasingly attractive option to clubs in Italy.
Napoli are understood to be keeping a close watch on his progress, with the club assessing possible defensive reinforcements after collecting seven points from their opening five matches. However, there have been no concrete discussions between the two clubs at this stage.
Napoli’s interest could develop into formal action if the conditions in the transfer market are favourable. Solet’s situation is also being assessed as Udinese endure a difficult beginning to the campaign, with the club 13th in the table and having conceded 11 goals in five games.
Solet’s experience at the highest level
Solet came through at Creteil before moving on to RB Salzburg, where he gained significant experience at a high level. His combination of strength, defensive discipline and experience could suit Napoli’s search for greater stability and reliability in defence.
The defender remains under contract with Udinese until June 2027. His current market value is estimated at about 20m euros by Transfermarkt.
Former Ivory Coast international Arthur Boka has previously suggested that another Italian club could be a particularly suitable destination for Solet, saying: “Oumar Solet and Inter Milan would be a perfect match.”
For now, Solet remains focused on Udinese, who will face Torino in their sixth league match of the season. The fixture comes with the club seeking to improve on a start that has left them in the lower half of the Serie A standings and exposed defensive weaknesses.
