Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho says forward Vinicius Junior has not yet reached the level he showed in Lisbon last season, despite being satisfied with the player’s performances.
Asked at Monday’s news conference when supporters could expect Vinicius’ best version, Mourinho said: “The best version is when he scores.
“Obviously, assists are important, and it is very important to work for the team. Commitment, collective work and solidarity matter too. Daily work is also important, and he is doing that very well.
“But there is another Vinicius. The one we saw in Lisbon last season, who, in an even match, gets one chance, scores a goal and goes home.
“At the moment, he is missing that level of performance, but I am happy with him.”
Real Madrid are second in the La Liga table, three points behind Barcelona.
