Morocco won’t stop getting all of the accolades they deserve after their impressive performance against European giants Spain.
The Atlas Lions defeated Spain 3-0 on penalties after a goalless game with the Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou winning the man of the match for his heroics between the sticks.
Nigerian ex-international Austin Okocha singled out the shot stopper for praise after saving two of Spain’s penalty kick.
“You can tell from the body language that he trust himself and (he) believes in his ability,” Okocha said.
The La Roja had 79 percent of the ball possession, leaving the Moroccans to defend for larger part of the game.
“It looked as if this is the only way they would have won the game because they got battered when it comes to possession but when the game plan is to defend, you should have some qualities and that was what they showed,” Okocha concluded.
