AS Monaco have started discussions with Paris Brunner’s representatives over a contract extension after the striker’s impressive beginning to the Ligue 1 season.
The 20-year-old is already under contract with the club until 2028, but Monaco are keen to improve his terms and secure his long-term future, according to L’Equipe.
Brunner has made a strong impact since the campaign began, scoring six goals in seven appearances across all competitions. His form has established him as one of Monaco’s leading performers and has attracted interest from abroad.
Borussia Dortmund, Brunner’s former club, are among those monitoring his situation. The Bundesliga side retain a contractual option to match any offer Monaco receive for the striker.
That agreement does not, however, give Dortmund priority in negotiations or guarantee that Brunner would return to Germany.
If Dortmund decide to try to re-sign him, they would still have to agree a deal with Monaco and persuade Brunner that a return is what he wants.
Monaco’s contract talks are intended to recognise the forward’s early-season performances while protecting the club’s position as interest in him grows.
